FAQ: My stats from TypeIt4Me 6 have not been picked up by TypeIt4Me 7. Is there a typing statistics file I can copy over manually?
Yes, there is and yes you can.
The reason your stats didn’t carry over automatically is that TypeIt4Me 7 is ‘sandboxed,’ which means it’s a self-contained app for extra security. Sandboxed apps can’t just help themselves to any old files wherever they may reside on your Mac. You’ll need to manually copy your existing typing statistics file created by TypeIt4Me 6 into TypeIt4Me 7’s new container so that the new version can read them.
First, here’s what to do to get to your existing stats file:
- Click on Go in the Finder menu bar.
- Hold down the option key on your keyboard.
- Click on Library when it appears in the open Go menu.
- In the Finder window that opens, navigate to Application Support > TypeIt4Me
- Locate the file in there named TypeIt4Me Stats.typeit4mestats
Finally, to move your stats file over:
- Click on Go in the Finder menu bar.
- Hold down the option key on your keyboard.
- Click on Library when it appears in the open Go menu.
- In the Finder window that opens, navigate to Containers > TypeIt4Me > Data > Library > Application Support > TypeIt4Me.
- Drag the file named TypeIt4Me Stats.typeit4mestats into that TypeIt4Me folder.
[04th May 2025 edit: There is a known bug that can prevent stats from being correctly displayed in the new version even after doing the above. We are working to fix it and will get an update in to the Mac App Store as soon as we can to resolve the issue. Thanks for bearing with us in the meantime.]
