Privacy Policy

Your Personal Information

We take your privacy seriously and, when you provide us with any personal information, we endeavour to keep it safe. We’ve outlined below what data we store and how we store it.

When Using Our Website

We hold and retain very minimal information when you visit our website; to help us understand how we can make the Ettore Software website better for you, we may use a Google Analytics tracking code on ettoresoftware.store, as well as on our blog and support pages. Google Analytics will use cookies-based tracking, provided this feature is enabled in your browser.

This information is anonymous and does not provide us with personally identifiable information, but helps us ensure that our support pages answer all of the most popular questions as clearly as possible, for example.

When Purchasing a Software Licence

When you purchase a software licence in order to register software you have downloaded from us directly, you will provide us with personal information, which is used for issuing your licence details, as well as for fraud detection.

We don’t process or retain transactional information ourselves, we delegate this to trusted experts with a long, reputable history of handling customers’ financial data safely and securely. Your purchase is made through Fastspring, and the transaction processed by either your bank, your credit / debit card provider or PayPal depending on your choice during checkout. The companies named above are PCI and GDPR compliant, and take your data security very seriously.

Once your transaction is complete, we securely retain the following information: your name, the email address you used to register your software licence, the type of licence purchased and the number of individual users it covers, the billing address, the transaction ID, and whether you have chosen to receive our newsletter. This allows us to better provide you with support and identify your licence details if you lose them in the future. If you would like us to delete or amend any of the information we hold about you, please contact us by email or via the contact form on our Support page and we will be happy to oblige. Please note, that if you do instruct us to delete your information from our records we may subsequently be unable to assist you in the event that you lose your licence details.

When Purchasing our Software from the App Store

None of the apps we make available on the Mac App Store or the iTunes App Store for iOS devices will transmit your personal information to us. When you purchase one of our apps from these stores we don’t process or retain transactional information ourselves: your transaction is with Apple, Inc. Your personal details are not shared with us by Apple, which has a long, reputable history of handling customers’ personal and financial data safely and securely.

Your TypeIt4Me and TypeIt4Me Touch Data

The TypeIt4Me Touch iOS app does not transfer any of your data to us and will only contact our server in order to fetch and display up-to-date Help files when you request these by pressing on the Help button within the app. You have the option to sync your snippet data via iCloud, in which case the data will be stored on Apple’s servers and will be covered by the privacy policy of that third party service. We do not have access to it. Notes composed in the TypeIt4Me Touch notepad app are stored locally on the device and are not transmitted anywhere unless you explicitly use the share sheet to do so. We do not have access to them.

The Mac version of TypeIt4Me does not transfer any of your data to us and only contacts our server if you set it to periodically check for new software updates. You are free to disable the software update check, but we recommend keeping this enabled. This will ensure that you can keep up to date with the latest version and benefit from security and performance enhancements as well as new features when these are added.

When you customise your TypeIt4Me preferences, this information is stored locally on your Mac. Your preferences, usage and settings are yours; This data is not sent to us or to any third parties, and we do not have access to it. You have the option to sync your snippet data via iCloudDropbox or a similar cloud-based service, in which case the data will be stored by the sync service you choose and will be covered by the privacy policy provided by that third party service.

We do not have access to your data unless you explicitly provide it to us. For example, you may attach your TypeIt4Me snippet data file(s) to an email sent to our support inbox for diagnostic purposes when you are seeking help with a technical problem. Any data files you do send us will never be shared with any third parties and will be deleted upon request. We generally do not retain such data files any longer than is necessary for us to deal with the issue(s) we have been asked to help resolve.
