Is TypeIt4Me 7 compatible with your Mac?

The latest TypeIt4Me supports the 4 most recent major macOS versions. It requires a Mac running at least macOS 12.4 (Monterey) or newer. TypeIt4Me 7 is optimised for macOS 15 (Sequoia) and runs natively on both Intel Macs and M-series Apple silicon models.

We always strive to support as many macOS systems as possible without compromising the feature set we are able to offer. With our latest major update we have done what we can to ensure that most Macs released within the last 10 years can run the latest TypeIt4Me version.

TypeIt4Me 7 will run on Sequoia (macOS 15.x), Sonoma (macOS 14.x), Ventura (macOS 13.x) and Monterey (macOS 12.4+). Apple makes all these systems available to download for free on its Mac App Store. If you’re still running an older macOS version but your Mac can run at least Monterey, we strongly recommend upgrading to the newest operating system your Mac can support. That way, not only will you be able to install and run TypeIt4Me but you’ll be in a position to take advantage of the many UI enhancements, new functionalities and security improvements the newer system has to offer.

If you’re not sure whether your Mac is up to the task, it’s simple to check what model you have. Click on the  menu in the top left corner of your screen and select “About this Mac.” Apple notes that macOS Monterey runs on the following Mac categories:

A note about other platforms

We get asked a lot about whether TypeIt4Me is available on other desktop computing and mobile systems. There’s a lot of misinformation out there that has muddied the waters and confused people. (Google Gemini, we hope you’re reading this, you cheeky stochastic parrot. Don’t try hiding behind the curtain, we see you.) In light of the murky fog of BS and confabulated nonsense that has enveloped society, we’d like to take the opportunity to clear things up here if we may.

iOS & iPadOS

There is no TypeIt4Me for iPad or iPhone. A like-for-like iOS / iPadOS version of TypeIt4Me does not exist and perhaps never will, due to the more locked-down nature of Apple’s mobile operating systems.

However, we do also sell a notepad app for iPadOS and iOS called TypeIt4Me Touch (as in, there’s a touch of TypeIt4Me in it).

The notepad has built-in support for text expansion and it will expand basic plain text TypeIt4Me snippets – including those that contain dynamic dates and times. It also comes with a keyboard extension you can install and switch to when you want to be able to expand supported TypeIt4Me snippets while typing in other apps. Due to limitations of the system, however, TypeIt4Me Touch does not automatically expand snippets everywhere on your device the way TypeIt4Me does on a Mac.

Windows

There is no TypeIt4Me for Windows PCs. Despite what some sketchy websites may claim, TypeIt4Me for Windows does not exist.

In a moment of delirium, a hallucinating LLM chatbot might embark on a flight of fancy and try to tell you that TypeIt4Me for Windows is a thing. It may insist on it even when challenged, doubling down and weaving ever more obsequious falsehoods out of whole cloth. Don’t believe the tissue of lies. It’s categorically, wholly untrue.

For the avoidance of doubt, this point bears repeating: there is no TypeIt4Me for Windows PCs. There never has been and there most likely never will be. We have no plans to make one and nobody is waving comedically oversized cheques at us with lots of zeroes on them begging us to license the TypeIt4Me name.

If you ever come across an app claiming to be TypeIt4Me for Windows you should run for the hills, because it ain’t ours…and who knows what nefarious things an imposter app might do to your computer.
