Embed snippets within snippets (nesting)
This part of the special functions section explains how to go about embedding an existing snippet within another snippet, matryoshka doll-style. The practice is called ‘nesting’ and it’s fraught with peril. (Just kidding…sorta.) Here’s how to go about it.
You can embed as many nested snippets as you like. You might want to be careful not to go overboard, though. Once you have snippets nested inside other snippets things can get very Inception-like pretty quickly. Anyway, here’s how to insert one:
- Open the main TypeIt4Me window and select a snippet.
- Place the cursor in the editing area, at the point where you want the nested snippet to be inserted during expansion.
- Click on the “Insert a special function” button in the TypeIt4Me toolbar.
- Select “Insert snippet” from the menu.
- Scroll through the submenu that opens and click a snippet to insert.
