A TypeIt4Me 7.0.1 update is already on the way

Hey there!

First things first: THANK YOU and yes, Riccardo and I have seen your messages. We will endeavour to reply as soon as humanly possible. We’ve now reached the point of sleep deprivation at which the act of closing our eyes briefly results in a kaleidoscopic vortex of coloured lights not dissimilar to the stargate sequence from 2001: A Space Odyssey.

To our amazement, just a few days after release TypeIt4Me 7 is sitting prominently in the Apps We Love Right Now section of the Mac App Store.

Both of us are overjoyed and reeling from the enthusiastic response our latest offering has received. We hadn’t anticipated that TypeIt4Me 7 would immediately catapult straight to No.1 in the Mac App Store Productivity category. At the time of writing, it’s also at No.3 in the overall Paid Apps chart – just edging out Apple’s own Final Cut Pro.

Dad and I have a sheepish confession to make. After toiling in relative obscurity for the last few decades, the level of attention this has generated is not something we were fully prepared for.

To paraphrase the old saying, everyone has a plan until they get hit in the face with a Large Influx of expectant new customers. What feels like a near 100-fold increase in daily sales almost overnight means we’re receiving a higher volume of email than usual.

The cavalry is coming

As expected, a number of previously undiscovered glitches have come to light since release day. The good news is we have already fixed several of the bugs that have been reported to us in the last week. We submitted the first maintenance update to Apple a couple of days ago and once this new 7.0.1 build is approved (knock on wood) it will resolve a number of issues present in the initial release.

The wait is over: TypeIt4Me has respawned on the Mac App Store. Grab a shiny new incarnation of the OG text expander for a special launch price of $9.99.

Good Friday is upon us! How did that happen? It’s been a hot minute since Riccardo and I checked on the FTSE 100 with furrowed brows to watch our retirement funds evaporate in real time. Seems like a weird coincidence that whenever we have a big announcement to make, there’s a fresh international crisis unfolding. Could all this chaos be our fault? No. It’s the trade advisors who are wrong…’uns.

Anyway, let’s not dwell on Ruinous Rollercoaster Tariffs and the Whimsical Billionaires Who Profit From Them. In more topical news, we can at last reveal that TypeIt4Me is officially reborn this Easter weekend. A major new version just dropped today.

As previously teased, we’ve rebuilt our flagship app from scratch in Swift – fully sandboxed – with a speedy new engine, a revamped interface and a slew of new features. Our hair is a lot thinner and greyer than it was 3 years ago when we embarked on this folly, but after a lengthy period in beta TypeIt4Me 7.0 is now available for everyone. On Apple’s Mac App Store, no less.

At what cost? That’s the good part. Not only have we managed to keep almost everything working despite the required sandboxing, we’re also temporarily dropping the price. Until the end of April there’s a special launch offer of just $9.99, after which it will retail for $29.99* (USD). As ever, that’s a one-time purchase that allows you to keep the version you bought forever. There is no recurring subscription to worry about.

TypeIt4Me 7 is on the way. Beta test volunteers wanted!

Hello, hello. We have news to impart.

If, like we did*, you recently slipped out to the bookies to place a bet on a major new version of the Mac community’s most stalwart text expander being unveiled this summer, you’re in luck!

We’ll skip the customary glib preamble reflecting on the increasingly bleak outlook for western civilisation and get straight down to it: TypeIt4Me 7.0 is almost ready for its close-up. First, though, we need you to help us polish the final development builds.

You may or may not recall that a while ago, in an ill-advised moment of hubris that immediately jinxed us, we coyly teased that a juicy new TypeIt4Me release was imminent. Well, 18 months or so later, after a few false dawns, it really is getting close.

The next major version of our flagship app is at last fully functional and it’s been 0️⃣ days since a mystery bug in the latest test build prompted us to lie down in a dark room, rueing our chosen vocation.

No, seriously, though, our inner QA circle has been kicking and slapping TypeIt4Me 7.0b for the last few months and it hasn’t disgraced itself so far. The bottom line is it’s generally stable and ready for wider scrutiny. We’re reasonably confident we’ve now ironed out most of, if not all, the troubling kinks.

It’s not lost on us that some of you have been itching to try the beta since we jumped the gun and teased it early last year. Just so you know: we really appreciate both your enthusiasm and your patience. Thanks for bearing with us.

If we haven’t already sent you a TestFlight invitation and you’d like to volunteer your testing services, please leave a comment here or drop us an email via our contact page. All help will be gratefully received.
