How to turn off inline predictions in Sonoma

FAQ: The inline predictions in macOS Sonoma keep interfering with TypeIt4Me expansions. How do I turn them off?

macOS 14 (Sonoma) includes a feature that attempts to complete words for you by predicting inline what you’re about to type next. A grey preview of the letters it thinks you want to type next will appear and if you then press the space bar that suggestion will be typed for you. This can be helpful, but it can also screw up expansion of TypeIt4Me snippets, leaving unwanted characters at the start of your expanded content.

If macOS Sonoma’s inline word predictions interfere with your TypeIt4Me expansions you can turn the predictions off. Go to System Settings > Keyboard > Text input and click the Edit button next to your input source. Then turn off the toggle switch for “Show inline predictive text” and click Done.
